“What’s up” is a greeting question we ask each other without thinking about it. It essentially asks, what is at the front of your mind?
That good question was the focus of a recent message from the Bible app. My wife Jeannette sent it to me.
The app reminds us that “the thoughts that fill your mind are crucial, because what you cling to influences your worldview.”
There are millions of messages the world would love to plant in you mind. Which messages are you letting in, which ones are you blocking.
It reminds me of how I sought my childhood obsession, baseball on the radio. I got my local teams just fine. But to hear other games (and I had to hear other games) I had to tune in distant stations, dialing the radio just right and turning in this way and that.
For me it was baseball in, to the exclusion of all else. If not, how would I know whether the Texas Rangers blew another 9th inning lead? It was hard work sometimes.
In a sin-soaked world, you have to work even harder to filter in God’s messages and eliminate all others. So dial in and stay tuned!
“If you choose to dwell on God’s promises, you start to recognize God’s blessings during uncertain times. Trusting that God will redeem your present pain equips you to walk forward in faith and keep on fighting,” reads the Bible app message.
“Isaiah 12:2 reminds us that we belong to a God who is faithful to keep His promises. This God rescues us and fights for us. So when we belong to God, we have nothing to fear—all we need to do is cling to God and wait on Him to act.”
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation (Isa. 12:2 KJV).
“So as you walk forward today, reflect on some of God’s promises below, and let them transform the way you think:”
God will sustain you.
“Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved” (Psalm 55:22 NKJV).
God’s peace will guard your heart.
“and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7 NKJVF).
God delights over you with singing
“The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. (Zephaniah 3:17 NKJV).
God will instruct you
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. (Psalm 32:8 NKJV).
God is your refuge and strength
“God is our refuge and strength. A very present help in trouble. (Psalm 46:1 NKJV).
God makes you more than a conqueror
“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. (Romans 8:37 NKJV).
God will never leave you or forsake you.
“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6 NKJV).
God’s perfect love casts out all your fear.
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18 NKJV).
Nothing can separate you from God’s love.
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39 KJV)
God’s not done with you. God’s not done with you. God’s not done with you.
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6 NKJV)
